Gravel Parking Area/Driveway Options:

Gravel Parking areas can be constructed several different ways below, based upon your budget and anticipated use of your project.

(ie : High volume/Heavy vehicles vs. occasional Boat or Trailer storage)

“Simple Spread: "

Light Duty Parking, Occasional Use.

No excavation of existing area, simple spread and grade of Gravel or Asphalt Millings.

“Budget:"

Will accomodate most parking needs, but may have weeds come thru eventually, and some wash-out over time with daily use.

Minimal removal of grass top layer, application of 3-4” of Gravel or Asphalt Millings.

This can be done with or without optional Landscape Paper/Weed Barrier at customer request.

“Better:”

Suitable for daily use, will be a good solid surface.

4-6” Excavation of Top Layer, Application of Geo Textile Fabric which helps prevent weed growth and keeps gravel from sinking into soil base over time from vehicle weight, which causes ruts and wash-out areas.

“Best:”

Best for heavy/daily use, "Gravel Driveway Quality"

6-8” Excavation of Top Layer, Geo Textile Fabric, 3-4” of Large Gravel, 3-4” of top coat Gravel or Asphalt Millings.

Additional considerations to consider:

Edging of some sort, now or future to contain Gravel Area.

Examples: Plastic Edging, Rocks, Pavers, Railroad Ties, etc.
